What the forum explores
Portugal's investment horizon

Portugal’s investment outlook is shaped by collaboration across its sectors, from international capital, private markets and Golden Visa residency to the IFICI tax regime, private banking, legacy, impact, family-office and asset-management structuring and planning.

Strategic areas such as business, innovation, infrastructure, real estate, hospitality and luxury markets are creating higher-value growth and attracting international investors and talent, as well as reducing friction and bureaucracy.

The next step is turning this success into broader prosperity, with benefits for productivity, wages, education, health and infrastructure.

Portugal for international diversification

Strategic investment and diversification in Portugal is accelerating. AICEP contracted a record €3.58bn of investment in 2025, creating 6,600 jobs, and The Economist named Portugal its economy of the year at end of 2025.

Highlights include Microsoft's $10bn investment in AI and data-centre infrastructure at Sines, alongside NVIDIA, Nscale and Start Campus. Norway's sovereign wealth fund has lifted its Portuguese equity and bond holdings to a record NOK 27bn, and Portugal will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Morocco.

Portugal is also competing for entrepreneurs, internationally mobile professionals, investors and other value creators through its evolving investment, residency and tax framework.

A recent World Digital Foundation report found the Golden Visa has attracted over €9bn in investment, supported up to 30,000 jobs and generated €54bn in wider economic impact.
